It is no secret about me that I am moved by and through music. This song is one that is always on my heart.
Casting Crowns - Praise You In This Storm
From the album Lifesong
I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it’s still raining
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
Chorus:
I’ll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I’ve cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can’t find You
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The maker of Heaven and Earth
As the holidays draw near and we look forward to celebrating with family and friends, Matt and myself find ourselves living in the land of the surreal once again. Just last night we were laughing at pictures of Zach from last Christmas and it seems like a dream. He was this beautiful gift in our life for only a moment.
But in that same moment Matt and I find ourselves laughing at how we still think our son was the best and that we are the greatest parents. You know - all those thoughts and feelings that just show up the day a child enters your life. No one speaks about them but you know what I mean. Zach, however, has a slight unfair advantage as no one can prove us wrong - there are no temper tantrums on tape that we know of :) Just a simple truth, our son is and was the best!
